The Morales’ Family Story
Part Family Photographer Part Monster
Family photo sessions are anything but run of the mill. Every family has it’s own dynamic. Each and every one has it’s own unique way of doing things. I always get alot of enjoyment just being able to get a more intimate look at the inner workings of a family during a session.
As all parents know, almost anything is a little harder when kids are involved. Sometimes the obstacle is easily met with a few promised treats or a special dinner out. Other times though, more desperate measures may need to be taken. For the Morales family photo session it was the latter.
The session necessitated that I slip on my dad hat equally as much as my photography one. You see, I had the challenge of chasing Jonathan and Addy around Longs Park with two bulky cameras, all the while pretending to be a big scary monster. It’s not something I’ve had to do before, but luckily since I’m dad of a handful of little ones myself, I can pretty quickly pull the monster card out of my back pocket. For these two balls of energy it worked.
With Kids Patience Is Key
I couldn’t help but marvel at Elsa’s patience throughout our session. She knew just the right buttons to push and not to push to enable me to capture some truly wonderful moments of her and her kiddos. It takes a special momma to chase two young kids around the park all while having a calm, loving and gentle posture. She allowed them to be themselves and let their personalities shine through, which isn’t always easy to do.
How Do You Want To Remember Them?
Did they get any pictures of the whole group sitting down prim and proper, all while smiling back at the camera? Maybe…one. Elsa was more than okay with that. Sitting still isn’t how this family functions. These kids are on the move. They’re ready for adventure, and we took that journey with them. The smiles were there, but the usual techniques weren’t going to bring them out. For Jonathan and Addy, candy wasn’t going to fit the bill. Instead, what they really desired was for someone, a scary (maybe a little bit doplic) monster, to chase them all over the park and through the woods. Mission accomplished.
If you want to capture these special moments with your kiddos I’d be more than happy to chase you all around the park with a camera. :) Go ahead and book your session today and capture this crazy, yet beautiful season in the life of your family.
Shane Achey
I’m a portrait photographer from Lancaster, PA. My passion isn’t just taking photos, but capturing the heartfelt moments we share with our loved ones and the real beauty of each season in life. As a dad of 4 kids all 5 and under, this is something I’m intimately familiar with. I specialize in family, kids, senior, maternity and wedding photography sessions.
Family photo sessions are certainly not the same for everyone. Every family has their own dynamic and way of doing things. Playing monster while racing through the park seemed to work like a charm for the Morales family during our photo session in Lancaster, PA.
